Cubs designate catcher Tony Wolters for assignment

(670 The Score) The Cubs have designated struggling catcher Tony Wolters for assignment, they announced Wednesday afternoon.

Wolters was hitting .125 (3-of-24) with no RBIs and a .401 OPS in 14 games this season.

In a corresponding move, Chicago recalled catcher P.J. Higgins from Triple-A Iowa. Higgins was hitting .333 with a homer and six RBIs in 11 games at Triple-A this season. He has never appeared in an MLB game.
