Through Sunday, Suzuki is hitting .400 with four homers, 11 RBIs and a 1.503 OPS, which ranks third in MLB. Suzuki has recorded a hit in all eight games that he has started.

“He’s been pretty incredible, huh?” Cubs outfielder Ian Happ said on the Dan Bernstein Show on Monday. “It’s been just ridiculous to watch. Like I said last week, the at-bat in general where he’s just not chasing, super-disciplined – even there was a punch-out yesterday on a backdoor slider out of the zone on 3-2 that he struck out on that was a ball. He just doesn’t swing the bat out of the zone. And then when it’s in the zone, he’s been super, super productive. So it’s just been really incredible to watch.”

Happ also praised the 27-year-old Suzuki for how well he has handled the transition to a new country and MLB after starring in Japan for years – all while drawing more attention than most players.

“There is some Japanese media that’s around all the time, which he’s doing both a domestic interview session and then having to do Japanese media as well, which is a lot for him, a lot for anybody,” Happ said. “That’s just something that comes with it.”
