(670 The Score) Left-hander Jon Lester’s one-year, $5-million contract with the Nationals became official Wednesday after he passed his physical.
That officially closed the book on Lester’s tremendous six-year tenure in Chicago, as he went 77-44 with a 3.64 ERA in 171 starts in his Cubs career. Lester was also co-MVP of the 2016 National League Championship Series, going 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA as Chicago earned its first pennant since 1945. He then helped lead them to the World Series title.
As he departed, the Cubs on Wednesday released a farewell video calling him “a leader, a role model, a champion.” Check it out below.
