(670 The Score) The Bank of America Chicago Marathon will welcome 45,000 participants for the 2023 race, organizers announced Thursday.

The 45th anniversary Chicago Marathon will be held next Oct. 8, and it will mark the first time since 2019 that so many runners will take to the streets.
Runners who entered the non-guaranteed drawing for 2023 were set to be notified of the selection status Thursday. For those who don’t earn entry in the lottery, they can still sign up through the Chicago Marathon charity program, which has raised $292 million in its history, including a record-breaking $27.6 million in 2022, organizers said.
"We’re thrilled to host 45,000 participants for the first time since 2019 at the 2023 Bank of America Chicago Marathon," Chicago Marathon executive race director Carey Pinkowski said in a statement. "As part of our millionth-finisher field, these participants will write their names in the event's history book during a particularly special year. We look forward to celebrating their performances as well as the contributions of the volunteers, spectators and community members who have made the Chicago Marathon the world-class racing tradition it is today.”
