(670 The Score) The White Sox have conducted their search for a new manager mostly behind closed doors, but a few details have begun to emerge.

Astros bench coach Joe Espada and Royals bench coach Pedro Grifol have "impressed" the White Sox in their interviews, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reported.

The White Sox are preparing to interview more candidates, and a final decision on hiring a manager is expected before the end of October, according to the report.

Espada, 47, has been the Astros' bench coach since 2018. Houston just advanced to the American League Championship Series for the sixth consecutive season.

Grifol, 52, has been with the Royals' coaching staff since 2013. He and Espada are also considered candidates for other managerial jobs, including the Marlins' vacancy.

The White Sox have an opening for their managerial position after Tony La Russa, 78, announced he was stepping down following health issues. He managed two seasons in Chicago, which included an 81-81 mark in 2022.

After winning the AL Central title in 2021, the White Sox missed the playoffs this season.

The White Sox haven't publicly announced candidates conducting interviews for their manager position.
