(670 The Score) – Chicago police responded late Friday after a shooting incident was reported inside Guaranteed Rate Field during the game between the White Sox and Athletics. While the investigating is ongoing, a report indicated the bullet may have traveled into the bleachers from outside the stadium.

A 42-year-old woman sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition, police said. A 26-year-old woman sustained a graze wound to the abdomen but refused medical attention.

The incident took place in the left-field bleachers and happened as early as the third inning, fans told the Sun-Times. The game wasn't interrupted.

"Upon receiving notification of this incident, CPD responded immediately and deployed additional resources while coordinating with White Sox security to maintain the safety of those who were in attendance or working the game," the Chicago Police Department said in a statement. "At no time was it believed there was an active threat."

Chicago police investigators' current line of thinking is that the bullet may have landed inside Guaranteed Rate Field after being fired from a mile away, CWB Chicago reported Saturday morning. There was no altercation in the area in which the two fans were struck by a bullet, the White Sox said in a statement.

A strong police presence was seen at Guaranteed Rate Field on 35th Street. A postgame concert at the ballpark featuring Vanilla Ice was canceled.
