(WFAN) The White Sox have claimed left-hander Yoan Aybar off waivers from the Yankees, ending his quick tenure in New York.

Aybar had been claimed off waivers from the Rockies on Sunday, and the Yankees then tried to place him on waivers this week to outright him off the 40-man roster. But the White Sox claimed him, so he's on the move to the Windy City and the Yankees now have an open spot on their 40-man roster.
The 24-year-old Aybar, a converted outfielder, has posted a 5.06 ERA in 110 relief appearances in the minor leagues over three seasons in the organizations of the Red Sox (2018-'19) and Rockies (2021). He spent the 2021 season at the Double-A level. Aybar was designated for assignment by the Rockies when they signed former Cubs star Kris Bryant last Friday.
