(670 The Score) A pair of Chicago baseball players earned honors for their strong performances in the final month of the regular season.

White Sox closer Liam Hendriks was named the American League Reliever of the Month for September/October, while Cubs first baseman Frank Schwindel earned National League Rookie of the Month honors for the same time period, MLB announced.

Hendriks threw 13 2/3 scoreless innings across September and October, striking out 21 batters while also going 8-for-8 in save chances. He’s unscored upon in his last 15 appearances.

Hendriks had a sensational season, posting a 2.54 ERA and 0.73 WHIP with 38 saves and 113 strikeouts. He became the first player in White Sox history to record at least 30 saves and 100 strikeouts in a single season.

Schwindel hit .344 with seven homers and 22 RBIs in 29 games across September and October. He hit .342 with 13 homers, 40 RBIs and a 1.002 OPS in 56 games for the Cubs this season.
