(670 The Score) The White Sox on Wednesday purchased the contracts of seven players, which increased their 40-man roster to its limit.

The White Sox added right-hander Zack Burdi, right-hander Dane Dunning, right-hander Matt Foster, right-hander Jimmy Lambert, left-hander Bernardo Flores Jr., catcher Yermin Mercedes and outfielder Blake Rutherford to their 40-man roster.

Dunning (No. 5), Rutherford (No. 9), Lambert (No. 18), Burdi (No. 23) and Flores (No. 28) rank among the White Sox's top 30 prospects, per MLB.com.

By adding these players to the 40-man roster, the White Sox protected them from being chosen by other teams in the Rule 5 Draft in December.
