The Cleveland Indians and Pittsburgh Pirates will play three exhibition games prior to the start of the 60-game MLB season, starting this Saturday at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.
The exhibiton schedule is as follow:
- July 18 in Pittsburgh (PNC Park); 7:05 pm first pitch
- July 20 in Cleveland (Progressive Field); 7:05 pm first pitch
- July 22 in Pittsburgh (PNC Park); 7:05 pm first pitch
SportsTime Ohio will carry the game on Monday, July 20th on TV here in the northeast Ohio market.
During the regular season, the Indians and Pirates will play each other six times across two three-game series. The Indians will head back to PNC Park from August 18-20 for games that count, while the Pirates will come to Cleveland again to end the season September 25-27.
The Pirates went 69–93 last season, finishing last in the NL Central. Former Indians hitting coach (2005-2009) Derek Shelton is Pittsburgh's new manager for the 2020 season. Cleveland opens the
2020 60-game season at Progressive Field less than a week after these exhibition games, next Friday, July 24th, against Kansas City.
