CLEVELAND, OH (92.3 THE FAN) - Deshaun Watson did not speak to the media, but his teammates and coach did today ahead of the Browns matchup Sunday against the Houston Texans.
Usually on Wednesday, for a Sunday game, the quarterback addresses the media. Kevin Stefanski was asked if there was any reason to have Watson on radio silence.
“No. But that is not my department,” said Stefanski.
Watson was reinstated Monday by the NFL after serving an 11-game suspension regarding lawsuits alleging sexual harassment filed by 25 women. As expected the focus this week has been more on the 27-year-old quarterback than any other aspect.
The long-awaited, for multiple reasons, December 4th game not only means the change of quarterback but also a change in how the 4-7 Browns are viewed. Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah feels that the vibe around the team hasn’t changed.
“Our intention like always is still to win, still to work hard, and still to execute,” added Owusu-Koramoah.
Watson took a majority of the first-team reps for the first time since returning to practices at the team facility in Berea in early November.
Browns cornerback Denzel Ward has seen firsthand what Watson brings and what he's looking forward to Sunday. “Pretty much every one of his balls are accurate and on point,” said Ward.
Injury Report
Tight End David Njoku is questionable for Sunday’s game. Kevin Stefanski noted it is a knee injury, but not the same injury that kept him out for weeks 8 and 10.
Defensive End Myles Garrett rested in practice, “With the overtime game on Sunday, you try and be smart and have our guys fresh on Sunday,” Stefanski noted.
Cornerbacks Greg Newsome II and AJ Green are both questionable for Sunday.
