Darius Garland: Cavs 'can make it to the Eastern Conference finals next year'

The Cavs surprised some last season with an 9th place finish, winning 44 games in a year that was widely expected to be a forgettable one. Instead, the team's young core flashed tons of potential, and are now well-positioned to continue ascending the Eastern Conference standings for the foreseeable future. While the general consensus is that they're still more than a couple seasons away, Cavs guard Darius Garland thinks – perhaps unsurprisingly – that the team's already ready to make a deep postseason run. Talking on the Varisty House podcast, Garland made somewhat of a bold prediction about the Cavs' immediate future.

“I think we can get even better,” he said. “I think we can make it to the Eastern Conference Finals next year for sure. We’re coming back with a chip on our shoulder. We proved to everybody that we belonged there.”
