CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland Guardians have traded pitcher Cody Morris to the New York Yankees in exchange for outfielder Estevan Florial, Cleveland announced on Tuesday.
Morris' tenure with the Guardians ends after two seasons, in which the right-hander went 1-2 with a 3.41 earned run average. A 7th-round draft pick by Cleveland in 2018, the 27-year-old Morris sported a 6.75 ERA over just eight innings this season.
Florial, 26, played in 101 games for the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate Scranton Wilkes-Barre last season. The outfielder slashed .284/.380/.565 with 23 doubles, 28 home runs, and 79 runs batted in while stealing 25 bases.
Florial sporadically spent four seasons in New York, hitting .209 with one home run in 48 games.
