It only took two games and three weeks for Ohio State to reclaim their spot atop BetMGM’s national championship odds.

When the betting market opened in January, the Buckeyes had the third-shortest odds. At +700, they were behind Georgia (+500) and Alabama (+600). Over the next eight-and-a-half months, they gradually climbed to +325 — still behind Georgia’s +300 — while building the highest ticket and handle shares at 19.3% and 26.3%, respectively.

Ohio State became co-favorites entering Week 5 and the outright favorite entering Week 7 — while still maintaining the highest public betting shares — but the loss to Oregon pushed them back down, this time (at +450) behind Texas (+375).

Two games and three weeks later, the Buckeyes are back. After Saturday’s road win over third-ranked Penn State, they are once again the outright favorite (and still the most popular pick).
