The Dallas Cowboys are searching for upgrades on offense and defense at the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis this week.
105.3 The Fan in Dallas learned Thursday that the Cowboys had already met with players such as Texas linebacker DeMarvion Overshown and Penn State cornerback Joey Porter Jr. And Friday, our Audacy station in Dallas learned that the Cowboys have visited with one of the top receivers in this year's draft class, Ohio State's Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

The Dallas native spoke Friday at the combine about his meeting with the Cowboys and what it would be like if he were to be picked by his hometown team.
"I had a good meeting with them. I'm happy I got the opportunity. Talked to the coaching staff. It was a good meeting," Smith-Jgigba said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic and Josh Schrock of NBC Chicago. "It would definitely be an awesome opportunity (to be) in that offense. And watching the Cowboys growing up. Being from there and all. It would be an awesome opportunity."
In an interview with ESPN's Todd Archer earlier this week, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said that the team's goal this offseason is to add a 'playmaker' and 'a little juice' to the offense, and Smith-Njigba certainly qualifies as one.
The wideout set the Ohio State single-season receiving record in 2021 with 1,606 receiving yards to go along with nine touchdowns. Expectations were through the roof coming into last season, but injuries limited him to just three games in 2022.
In 2019, Smith-Njigba won the Landy Award and Texas Gatorade Football Player of the Year as a senior at Rockwall High School. The Landry Award is given to the top high school football player in North Texas. He was named an All-American and was rated as the No. 5 rated receiver in the nation when he committed to play for Ohio State.
