Rico Dowdle runs for career-best 109 yards in Cowboys' Thanksgiving win over Giants
The Dallas Cowboys haven't had a running back run for at least 100 yards in a game in quite a long time. That streak ended on Thanksgiving when Rico Dowdle gashed the New York Giants for a career-high 112 yards on 22 carries in Dallas' 27-20 win.
Dowdle is the first Cowboys back to have a 100-yard rushing game since former Cowboy Tony Pollard accomplished the feat in Week 3 of the 2023 season. Dowdle is also the first Cowboys back to run for at least 100 yards and a touchdown since Pollard did it in Week 10 of the 2022 season, according to Todd Archer of ESPN.
Dowdle ripped off a 22-yard run in the first quarter, tying quarterback Dak Prescott for the longest run by the team this season, and added his first touchdown of the season in the fourth quarter to cement his career-best performance.
Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said he was pleased with Dowdle's performance and gave a lot of credit to the offensive line for opening up holes for him to run through.
Dowdle now has 600 yards rushing on 134 carries and one touchdown.
