The Memphis Grizzlies were overwhelmed from the opening tip Monday night, falling 146-107 to the Atlanta Hawks at State Farm Arena in a game that quickly got out of hand.
Atlanta set the tone early, jumping out to a 32-22 lead after one quarter and stretching that advantage to 71-46 by halftime. The Hawks then delivered the knockout blow in the third, erupting for 45 points to take a commanding 116-75 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Hawks shot a blistering 53 percent from the field and 46 percent from three-point range, with eight players scoring in double figures in a balanced offensive attack.
Memphis struggled to keep pace defensively, allowing 146 points while committing 23 turnovers that led to easy Atlanta opportunities. Despite the lopsided loss, GG Jackson led the Grizzlies with 26 points, while Tyler Burton added 20 off the bench.
The Grizzlies shot just 42 percent from the floor and 33 percent from beyond the arc, unable to match Atlanta’s efficiency or depth throughout the night.
Memphis has now dropped three straight games and continues to search for answers as the season winds down.
