Whether it's about the result, or the officiating, both might start with Grizzlies Head Coach Taylor Jenkins' initial comments after the Memphis Grizzlies dropped to 1-8 on the season after a 127-121 loss at home to the Utah Jazz. In this case Jenkins thought his team's 48 to 13 free throw disparity and lack of respect from the officials warranted an explosion. Here it is:
The tipping point came with Jaren Jackson Jr. being tossed from the game (2nd technical) with 4:30 remaining in the 3rd quarter.
It seemed like it the explosions were necessary by Jaren and Taylor Jenkins. Still Jenkins was right to point to the team's lack of productivity as something "they need to work on".
Six Utah Jazz players scored in double figures led by Lauri Markkanen and Jordan Clarkson, both with 26 points on the night. The Grizzlies on the other hand, with a starting lineup featuring Jacob Gilyard, were led by Desmond Bane's 37 points.
