The Memphis Grizzlies shot a blazing 51% from the 3-point arc and 53.7% Friday night at Crypto.com Arena to blast the Laker 127-113. Not only did Jaren Jackson (31 points/9 rebounds), Desmond Bane (24 points/13 assists), and Ja Morant (21 points, 7 assists, 7 rebounds) do damage with 20+ points each, but it was Marcus Smart's best game in a Memphis Grizzlies uniform. Smart finished with 29 points and 5 assists with an incredible eight total 3-pointers.
This was also the best all-around performance of the season for the Grizzlies because it included positive bench minutes. Ziaire Williams had 15 points off the bench (+10 in 20 minutes) including a couple of alley-oop passes to him from Ja Morant in the second half.
Friday night in Los Angeles was also special for Memphis because they beat a Lakers team on the road despite LA having five double-digit scorers. Four Laker starters scored in double-figures. Austin Reaves had a double-double 19 points and 12 rebounds. Lebron James scored 31 points.
Memphis (12-23) will travel to Phoenix next to take on the Suns (19-16) on Sunday (1/7) live at 7:00 p.m. on 92.9 FM ESPN.
