AUDIO: Monday on 92.9's Geoff Calkins Show, Geoff and Chris Herrington from the Daily Memphian discussed the exciting wins this weekend for the GRIZZ.
Despite missing Ja Morant and Desmond Bane, the Memphis Grizzlies delivered a dominant performance against the Washington Wizards, winning 140-112 at Capital One Arena on Sunday (12/8). Memphis showcased their depth and resilience, fueled by a strong team effort and explosive scoring including the enigma himself, Yuki Kawamura.
Jaren Jackson Jr. led the charge with 21 points, anchoring the Grizzlies on both ends of the floor. Memphis gained momentum early, building a lead with a 16-4 second-quarter run and extending it with an 18-0 surge in the third. The Grizzlies' bench made a significant impact, with Santi Aldama contributing 19 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks, while rookie Scotty Pippen Jr. tallied 14 points and an impressive 12 assists in his playmaking role.
Washington struggled to contain Memphis’ offensive flow and trailed throughout, despite Jonas Valančiūnas and Marvin Bagley III leading the Wizards with 20 points each. Memphis’ efficient ball movement and defensive intensity created numerous scoring opportunities, leading to their highest point total of the season.
