The AutoZone Liberty Bowl announced a "rematch" of sorts from 2017's AutoZone Liberty Bowl for the 2023 edition of the game. It'll be Iowa State from the Big 12 taking on the University of Memphis, instead of a typical SEC opponent. Memphis was once again selected in 2023 by the AutoZone Liberty Bowl fulfilling the SEC slot based on available bowl eligible teams this season.
