Tigers beat NOLA but face a serious attendance problem at FedExForum

Next Memphis Tigers game: Saturday (12/6) vs. Baylor at FedExForum at 3:30 p.m.

The Memphis Tigers put together one of their most complete efforts of the season on Wednesday night, defeating New Orleans 86–70 at FedExForum. Quante Berry gave Memphis a major lift off the bench, leading the team with 17 points and sparking several key runs throughout the night. Julius Thedford set the tone early with 13 first-half points, helping the Tigers build a commanding 48–28 lead at the break. Simon Majok added 13 points of his own, including 10 after halftime as Memphis maintained control.

New Orleans relied heavily on TJ Cope, who poured in 21 points to keep the Privateers within striking distance. Jakevion Buckley contributed 14 points and two steals, while MJ Thomas added 10 points and eight rebounds.

Memphis pushed its advantage to 80–60 with a 7-0 burst in the second half, never allowing the Privateers to seriously threaten. The Tigers improved to 3–4 with the win, showing encouraging balance at both ends.

One of the challenging facing the Tigers has been attendance. Wednesday night's ANNOUNCED attendance was 9,123. The view of the stands suggested it was much less than the announced number.
