Last night’s Sweet 16 action delivered exactly what March is known for: tight finishes, statement wins, and a couple of teams punching above their seed line. J&J discussed the whole night one of the Sweet 16.

Listen for the Tennessee Volunteers in the Sweet 16 in Memphis on 790 AM.

The night opened with a thriller as Purdue survived a serious upset bid from 11-seed Texas, escaping 79-77 in a game that came down to late possessions. Purdue’s composure in the final minute proved the difference, keeping its title hopes alive.

Meanwhile, 9-seed Iowa continued its surprising run, knocking off 4-seed Nebraska 77-71. The Hawkeyes controlled tempo and hit key shots late, further cementing themselves as one of the tournament’s biggest surprises.

In one of the more eye-opening results, Illinois dominated 2-seed Houston 65-55. The Illini defense was relentless, completely disrupting Houston’s rhythm and turning the game into a grind that favored Illinois from start to finish.

The most explosive performance of the night came from Arizona, which rolled past Arkansas 109-88. Arizona’s offense was electric, pushing pace and overwhelming Arkansas with scoring bursts that never allowed the Razorbacks to settle in.

With four teams advancing, the Elite Eight is now set for some high-level matchups. Full coverage on 92.9 FM ESPN, Memphis' Sports Station.
