Following Eli Manning's retirement at the conclusion of the 2019 season, the 2020 season is the first year that someone from the Manning family isn't playing quarterback at the NFL level since 1997.
You're starting to get the sense that it may not be too long until another Manning is on the national stage.
Arch Manning, the nephew of Eli and Peyton, made his sophomore debut Thursday evening for Isidore Newman in New Orleans, and put on an absolute clinic:
Though Arch doesn't rock one of the numbers that either of his uncles - or his grandfather, Archie - did in the NFL, his No. 16 is hardly new to the Manning family. Arch dons the No. 16 on his jersey, the same number that Peyton wore for his collegiate career at the University of Tennessee.
Arch is the son of the third Manning brother, Cooper. The oldest Manning brother was an All-State wide receiver in high school, but had what almost certainly was a career headed for the NFL ended prematurely by a diagnosis of spinal stenosis.
In a way, football karma may be coming back around for Cooper. His son, Arch, isn't simply worth talking about because of his last name. Arch is still a few years away from his 18th birthday, but he's already 6'3, and weighs 195 pounds. 24/7 Sports says he's a four-star recruit, one that has already received offers from Alabama, Boston College, Duke, Georgia and LSU.
