ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Next Thursday the Cardinals will play their first home game in front of fans since September 29, 2019, and you could still be one of those fans.

The team will be allowing up to 13,000 fans into each game in April, and Ticket Manager Joe Strohm says tickets are still available.

"We do have a minimal tickets available for opening day and the (following) weekend and then we have about 1,000 tickets available for each game during the week," Strohm says.

The tickets, Strohm says, are being sold mainly in pods of four but also in pods of three and two.

"So, you are going to feel very comfortable that you're not going to be sitting right next to someone who is not part of your pod," he says, "and you're going to feel very comfortable coming into the ballpark."

The team first offfered tickets to season ticket holders, but Strohm says, as expected, some opted out.

"Some said, 'let me in, let me come to all 13 games'. Others, 'let me experience a couple of games' and others 'let's wait until the vaccine's fully out there and we get back to full capacity.'"

So far, the Cardinals are only selling tickets for games being played n April, and while they're hoping to be able to fill the stadium again later in the season, they have to see where the pandemic stands.

"We've really not had any conversations at this point beyond selling the month of April," he says, "because we don't know where the numbers are going to be. That will probably take place sometime soon to discuss the month of May or eve extented months beyond that."

In the meantime, Strohm says it'll just be nice to have fans in the seats.

"I think they're going to have a wonderful time when they're here in a very, very safe environment."
