ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - We've reached (and passed) one-sixth of the baseball season and the Cardinals – winners of five straight games and 9 of their past 11 – are heating up.

Here's a brief review of each player on the 40-man roster, in alphabetical order.

Ready? Set? Read.

Nolan Arenado, 3B: He's a St. Louis Cardinal. Read that again.

Harrison Bader, CF: The Gold Glove-caliber center fielder is showing off some big-time power, slamming two long home runs in only 14 at-bats.
Genesis Cabrera, P: A competent, Major League pitcher.
Dylan Carlson, OF: Good all-around player finds himself in the No. 2 spot in the order, second on the team with a .345 OBP.
Matt Carpenter, IF: Found the salsa with a pinch-hit home run surge last week ... will the numbers (.106 BA) start to go his way?

Austin Dean, OF: Optioned to Memphis to make room for Adam Wainwright, provides outfield depth if needed.
Paul DeJong, SS: Leads team in home runs (6) while hitting only .186.
Tommy Edman, 2B: Leadoff hitter is tops on the Cards in batting average (.295), hits (35), OBP (.354) and stolen bases (4).
Seth Elledge, P: Recent call-up has yet to make an appearance out of the bullpen.
Junior Fernandez, P: Righthanded depth in Memphis.
Jack Flaherty, P: Staff ace is the first pitcher in MLB to five wins (5-0, 3.41 ERA).

Bernardo Flores, Jr, P: Lefty claimed off waivers from the White Sox, assigned to Memphis.
Giovanny Gallegos, P: Changeup has hitters swinging and missing, as does his nasty slider.
John Gant, P: Is good at baseball and five-inning starts (25 IP in five starts).

Paul Goldschmidt, 1B: A matter of time until the explosion, second on team in RBI (15) with a .236 BA.
Ryan Helsley, P: Averaging just over a strikeout an inning, hasn't allowed a run since April 17.
Ivan Herrera, C: Highly-regarded prospect will start in Springfield.
Jordan Hicks, P: Inflammation in right elbow has him on the 10-day IL.
Dakota Hudson, P: Out for the season after Tommy John, was turning the corner and willl be in 2022 rotation plans.
Scott Hurst, OF: Depth at Memphis as the Cardinals evaluate their outfield situation.
Kwang Hyun Kim, P: Lefty has a variety of pitches he throws for strikes, works fast, welcome return to rotation.
Andrew Knizner, C: Definitely holding his own and making the most of an opportunity.
Carlos Martinez, P: Has the swagger back, throwing strikes and coming off three very good starts.

Miles Mikolas, P: Going on a rehab assignment, slowly but surely showing improvement health-wise.
Andrew Miller, P: Dealing with a foot issue, on the injured list. Did that lead to his ineffectiveness?
Yadier Molina, C: Foot injury has him out for the moment, still second on the team in home runs (5).

John Nogowski, 1B: Dealing with a bone bruise in his hand, looks to be Memphis-bound for now.
Tyler O'Neill, OF: Has shown off power and speed when healthy, but as importantly is hitting to the opposite field.
Johan Oviedo, P: Talented prospect will get starts in a six-man rotation.
Daniel Ponce de Leon, P: Shoulder inflammation keeping him out, could play key role if healthy and throwing strikes.
Johan Quezada, P: 6-9, 255-pound righty will get a look in Memphis.
Ali Sanchez, C: Provides important depth if needed.
Edmundo Sosa, SS: Getting valuable experience in a part-time role with the big club.
Lane Thomas, OF: Too talented to not get another look. He will.
Adam Wainwright, P: Every single day, we learn more about one of the greatest pitchers in Cardinals history... that he has greatness to give, again and again.

Tyler Webb, P: Needs to be more efficient to continue his recurring role as a reliable lefty out of the bullpen. Like Miller, a great track record.
Kodi Whitley, P: Recalled April 30 from the Alternate Training Site, he's getting his footing.
Justin Williams, OF: When he hits them, they get out in a hurry. Terrific jump in the field on defense. Putting it together.
Jake Woodford, P: A lot to like here, just needs some seasoning.
