“I think the committee has opened themselves up to two things. The first thing there is no longer the potential of the Big 10 getting two teams. I think when Penn State was still in that top four, maybe there was an outside shot,” Quinn said. “Now the SEC still has a shot. If Georgia was to win out and win the SEC Championship Game and let's assume they’re playing LSU in the SEC Championship and that’s LSU’s only loss. Based on the resume you’d have to think both LSU and Georgia would get in.
"I think what they did with this past week’s rankings, but also they’ve done this in the past, is they’re really setting this up to allow the scheduling to take care of itself. Georgia is in that prime spot at No. 4. But with Alabama on the outside looking in, I could see Oregon or Utah whichever one of those two assuming they both make it to the PAC 12 championship game. With one loss, if they were to win their conference the winner of that would be able to leapfrog them."
