Ryan Klesko joined Dukes & Bell Tuesday to talk about Austin Riley, the Braves bullpen and more.
When asked about left-handed batters being sat against lefty pitchers...
“He’s been doing great,” Klesko said. “He’s staying on the breaking ball, I’ve been really impressed. Last week the two hits he had against the Giants were both pitcher's pitches. That’s when I knew he was ready. When I was coming up I had a ton of players around to help me with my approach. So you have to give all the guys credit that have helped with his mental approach that’s cut down on his strikeouts so you have to give the organization some credit as well.”
Ryan said the Braves have plenty of assets to make moves to strengthen bullpen.
“You look at last year the bullpen struggled early too," Klesko said. "Snit has to figure out what these guys do best, those guys are going to have to work through their issues early. Would I like them to go sign (Craig) Kimbrel? Heck yes, I think Kimbrel wants a long-term contract. I know he started wanting a five-year deal, and now he went to three. They are loaded with arms in the minor leagues so they could make some trades to get somebody if they want someone.”
