“Frustrated” would probably be considered an understatement for Atlanta Hawks fans as they watch their team continue to struggle in finding any type of momentum down the stretch of the regular season. Currently sitting in the eight spot in the Eastern Conference standings, three games behind Miami, who sits in the seventh position and just a half game ahead of Toronto, who sits in the ninth spot, and one game ahead of Chicago, who is in the tenth spot currently, the Hawks are essentially fighting for their playoff lives with 11 games to go.
And with 10 of the 11 opponents the Hawks will be facing still battling for playoff berths and seeding combined with the inconsistent play of Atlanta, any concerns for the Hawks making the post-season have been warranted.
Since their five game win streak back in January was ended, Atlanta has yet to string together more than two wins at any point to date, despite a coaching change, which saw the Hawks move on from Nate McMillan and bring in Quin Snyder on a five year deal, reportedly worth approximately $8M per year.
Yet, the hoped for boost by bringing in Snyder, some hoped to see has yet to happen, leaving many to belie that the Hawks are simply who their record reflects they are, which is a .500 ball club. “You just never know what you’re going to get from this team do you,” 92-9 The Game’s Jon Chuckery asked Brad Rowland of Locked On Sports, as the two discussed what could be behind the Hawks inconsistent play. “I’m with you, they’re not consistent. It’s definitely maddening,” Rowland responded to Chuckery’s question.
