The Braves have been one of the best home run hitting teams in the MLB. Earlier in the season Brian Snitker, said, "Yes we strike out a lot, but we hit homers." That was not the case in Miami against the Marlins.
Chris Goforth, host of the Chris Goforth Show, gave what he believes was the biggest takeaway from Sunday's 7-1 victory for the Braves over the Marlins.
We know the Braves can hit home runs. They are second in the enitre MLB with 203 home runs on the season, behind only the Yankees.
The Braves found a way to score seven runs while hitting only one solo-home run courtesy of Marcell Ozuna in the bottom of the fourth inning. They then went on to bring base runners home six different times throught the rest of the game.
As Goforth said, "The Braves still managed to scores six runs just piecing it together." Being able to put constant pressure on opposing pitchers the way they have the last few weeks is just another ace in the hole for an offense that has been hot for the majority of the second half of the season.
This type of batting and taking advantage of runner in scoring position is exactly what they need as they make the postseason push.
