The Atlanta Braves had a thrilling comeback victory against the Chicago Cubs in a game that looked out of reach for most of the day. The Cubs took a commanding 6-0 lead by the 6th inning, putting pressure on the Braves to make an improbable comeback.
In the bottom of the 6th inning, the Braves began their rally. Kevin Pillar started things off with a homer to deep left, making it 6-1 Cubs. Ozzie Albies hit a double, and Austin Riley drew a walk, putting runners on first and second. Matt Olson then singled to left-center, bringing in Albies and making it 6-2. Marcell Ozuna followed with a double to deep left-center, scoring Riley and cutting the deficit to 6-3. In just one inning, the Braves had cut the lead in half.
The momentum continued in the 7th inning when Ronald Acuña Jr. homered to deep right, bringing the score to 6-5 and setting up an exciting finish.
Suzuki had a chance to redeem himself in the 9th inning but struck out swinging. The HomeTown Kid Dansby Swanson also got a chance to play hero but stuck out swinging. The game ended with a Braves victory, with the magic number to clinch home field now at one.
