Braves may end up having another six-man rotation this season

The Morning Shift uses comments from Brian Snitker to help explain why they think the Braves will ultimately deploy a six man pitching rotation again in 2025.

The Atlanta Braves had a six-man rotation in 2024, and as a result Reynaldo Lopez was selected to his first All-Star team and had the best season of his career. Spencer Schwellenbach had a very promising rookie campaign, and Chris Sale of course had one the best seasons in his career that ended with him taking home the 2024 NL Cy Young Award.

Needless to say, the six-man pitching rotation was a success for the Braves, and after hearing Braves manager Brian Snitker talk about it during his interview with The Steakhouse Tuesday, The Morning Shift believes Snitker and the Braves will try to have the same success with a six-man rotation this year.

Snitker told The Steakhouse he thinks the team “did a really good job” of keeping pitchers healthy and does a really good job of “giving guys extra days.”

Beau Morgan thinks those comments from the Braves skipper further cements the possibility of the Braves having a six-man rotation in 2025, and he also explains why he personally believes it’s important for the Braves.

“It’s going to be pivotal with a young arm like Schwellenbach, who pitched way more innings than he’d ever had in his career and is gonna to do it again this year," Morgan said. "Strider coming off the brace surgery you know with the UCL stuff, and then Sale who is an older pitcher who has broke down a lot in the last four, five years other than last year, it’s extremely pivotal.”

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
