The Atlanta Braves swept another series. Yawn. In actuality, their sweep of the Rockies may have been one of their more impressive feats of the season. Rookie Darius Vines took the hill in Game 3 of the series and shut down the opposition in a ballpark that is heavily favored towards the offense.
Vines is just the latest youngster to come up and help the big-league squad.
Perhaps the most dangerous aspect of the Braves is their depth. If Matt Olson slumps, Marcell Ozuna picks up in his place. If Spencer Strider slips, Bryce Elder becomes an All-Star. Several young players including Vines, Jared Shuster and Vaughn Grissom have all contributed at points this season. Their depth could be difference in winning another World Series title.
Dukes & Bell know what we saw on Wednesday is another example of why they’ve been in the best team in baseball wire-to-wire
“He pitched well. This is how good the Braves are, they can through Darius Vines and he can give you six innings. That’s how good this team is,” Carl Dukes explained.
The real test for the team will begin Thursday as the Braves head to Los Angeles for a four-game set with the Dodgers. Once again, they are the main thorn in the Braves’ side and this series will have impact on which team has the best record in the National League and perhaps have a hand in deciding homefield advantage in the World Series.
