The Braves finally cut the check

Atlanta Braves
Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Braves have always taken their time when it comes to giving out what looks to be a long term contract. The Braves signed Marcell Ozuna to a 4 year 65-million-dollar deal.

The Braves have been traditionally knowing to not pass out long term deals like this one. General Manager Alex Anthopoulos has always been a bargain shopper during the winter time, highlighted by one year deals. Gabe Burns, of the AJC, joined the Jon Chuckery show to explain exactly why they decided to go outside of the norm for Ozuna. "There reputation has kind of become all about the short term deals, but they loved the player (Ozuna) so much" Burns said.

It's something to be said when the Braves go outside of themselves to sign a player. There is no doubting the type of effect that Ozuna had on the field and in the clubhouse. Hopefully this is the move that can solidify the Braves as a World Series contender in 2021.
