The Atlanta Falcons finished the preseason with a 1-1-1 record. Head coach Arthur Smith was pleased with the results against the Miami Dolphins in joint practice sessions, as well as a drive against the Bengals, though it ended on a red-zone, tipped-ball interception. Smith was more concerned with getting as many looks at "bubble" players such as tackle-turned-guard Jalen Mayfield as possible before making final cuts to get the team to 53 players.
John Fricke asked caller this Sunday if they were concerned with the lack of field action from the starting units headed into Week 1, stating that he isn't concerned and he has his trust in Smith that the team is ready to go.
However, Fricke did acknowledge that there is a sizable piece of the fanbase that is extremely concerned with the lack of play and is distrusting of Smith's decision, especially after seeing Mike Tomlin (who has never had a losing season) playing his best players in that moment.
