Arthur Smith will enter his third season as the Atlanta Falcons head coach when the season kicks off in early September.
After back-to-back seven-win seasons in his first two years, many believe the Falcons are on the verge of making a big push in 2023, with a possible division title and playoff run a realistic goal.
Even in his third season, Smith is one of the most tenured coaches in the league as 13 other head coaches are in either their first or second year with their current teams.
Only nine current head coaches in the league have a Super Bowl victory on their resume, and more than half the current head coaches are looking for their first ever postseason victory.
When Houston radio sports host John McClain joined The Other Side of the Glass with Chris Thomas, John echoed the thoughts of Chris when asked if Smith has the potential of becoming one of the NFL’s upper echelon coaches.
“One of the things that impressed me the most about Arthur (Smith) is how four coaches kept him in Tennessee,” emphasized John when talking with Chris.
“You never know for sure how a guy is going to do as a head coach until he gets the opportunity," said McClain recapping Arthur Smith’s rise from assistant to offensive coordinator to head coach in the NFL. "But Arthur is a really good offensive coach."
Lastly, just before Chris and John finished going back and forth about the Falcons and what head coach Arthur Smith has with his young team, John asked the key question that is on all Falcons fans mind.
“You guys want to know; everybody wants to know is Desmond Ridder the guy?"
