The Atlanta Falcons run game had a rookie in Tyler Allgeier than ran for over 1,000 yards in 2022 and a swiss-army knife veteran in Cordarrelle Patterson, and to that they added Bijan Robinson with the 8th overall pick and that has some wondering how high up the Falcons running back room ranks in the entire NFL.
For The Win NFL Columnist Christian D'Andrea went as far as to write that the Falcons are the #1 running back room in the entire league.
The key to this discussion certainly is the depth of the Falcons group of running backs. While Bijan Robinson may not end up as the #1 RB in the league this season, with Allgeier and Cordarrelle along side him, you may prefer that group of backs to a top-heavy RB room like the 49ers have with Christian Mccaffrey.
Time will tell just how impressive the Falcons run game is this season, but it would appear that Arthur Smith has gathered a group of back he can lean on throughout the season and tried to solidity the offensive line for them to run behind by bringing back Kaleb McGary, extending Chris Lindstrom, and drafting Matthew Bergeron.
