The NFL legal tampering period began on Monday and per a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Atlanta Falcons agreed to sign Tua Tagovailoa, who was officially released by the Miami Dolphins earlier in the day. “From a Falcons’ fan standpoint, I want to win and I hope he come in and helps us do that,” 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes said as he and co-host, Mike Bell reacted to the Tagovailoa reports.
“My concerns do not change, my reservations about signing him do not change. But if this is where Matt [Ryan] and Ian [Cunningham] want to go because, and understand why, because Michael Penix [Jr.] may or may not be ready at the start of the season, we need to have somebody that is. This beats the alternative of going with an old guy,” Dukes continued as he explained being hesitant about the Tagovailoa report, however understanding why the Falcons front office may be in favor of the reported decision.
“There are still health and safety concerns with Tua Tagovailoa that you have to be real with and the fact that it’s a one-year deal, great, I know many of you will be like ok, ‘look, he’s just going to come in here and this is break glass just in case,” Dukes said, noting Tagovailoa’s previous concussion history as his reason for pause on the reported signing.
