Atlanta Falcons beat writer D. Orlando Ledbetter joined Dukes & Bell to talk about the salary cap number being set and how the Falcons will be able to add free agents with their current cap situation.
Ledbetter talked about the kind of free agents the Falcons will be searching for this offseason.
“There will be some bargain-basement free agents, some veterans they can sign but no one that will be as accomplished as Keanu or Alex Mack,” Ledbetter said. “What they got to do is be like Tampa Bay and find people who are on other rosters that are getting ready to be good players, who’ve been developed and all they need is a chance to play and you can get them on the low-low.
“Tampa did that with Shaq Barrett two years ago. They got him off the Denver squad then boom he gets 19.5 sacks, now you got to pay him. They got to find somebody. Scouting department is on point right now.”
