CBS Sports analyst Bryant McFadden joined Dukes & Bell to talk some NFL draft and when asked who is his favorite quarterback not named Trevor Lawrence was, he went with a different quarterback than most.
McFadden talked about which quarterback he likes in the draft.
“My guy not named Trevor Lawrence is Mac Jones," McFadden said. "Mac Jones is my guy, yes he is. Mac Jones is getting criticized because he takes his shirt off and he has a soccer dad body, looks like he smokes cigarettes, and drinks ‘Hey Man’ all day. He is getting criticized because every other player that he’s competing against at the quarterback position, they look good when they take their shirt off, they got abs. Mac Jones ain’t got no abs. But I could care less about that as long as his arm is tuned and ready to go.
“I say this all the time about the quarterback position, I could care less if you can run fast. I need you to think fast, Mac Jones is a fast-thinker. I mean this guy completed almost 80 percent of his passes. One thing I like about Mac Jones, most college quarterbacks they need to look to the sidelines to get help on where they should go with the check offensively or where they should go with the football. Mac Jones can dissect things without looking to the sideline, and that’s a learning curve for most quarterbacks collegiately when they get to the NFL. Because NFL quarterbacks don’t look to the sideline.”
