The 6-3 Atlanta Falcons have improved in a lot of areas since going 7-10 in three consecutive season. Their lack of pass-rush, however, continues to haunt the franchise amid coaching and personnel changes. Raheem Morris knows the history of the franchise and acknowledges the current state of the position (last in the NFL with 9 sacks).
Coach Morris joined Dukes & Bell Wednesday and acknowledged the players on the roster are going to have to carry the load and improve the sack totals. He also credited defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake for evolving as the season has gone on.
The Falcons will need to rely on their skilled secondary and linebacking corps to generate a more consistent rush up front. The team has been able to survive on its ability to get interceptions and takeaways but it remains to be seen if that strategy can survive the rest of the season and into the playoffs.
