The past two seasons, the Atlanta Falcons have been one of the more fortunate teams in regards to the running back position. After selecting Tyler Allgeier in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, they would draft Bijan Robinson with the eighth overall pick a year later, which was initially met with some skepticism after Allgeier produced over a thousand yards his rookie season.
Fast forward to now, and the Falcons have one of the top running back duos in the league, however the question may be for how long as Allgeier, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract, is viewed as being talented enough to be a starter in the league.
"It's always a blessing to stay with the team that drafted you," Allgeier said as he joined 92-9 The Game's Carl Dukes and Mike Bell and addressed his current contract situation explaining he hopes to "work towards" remaining with the Falcons beyond this season, however focused on what he can control.
"I'm going to focus on really just making it the best year possible," Allgeier said. The fourth year running back has put together back to back seasons of over 600 rushing yards with at least three touchdowns in each one.
