After playoff berth, Hawks have become legitimate free-agent destination

For years it has been a struggle for the Hawks to be a free-agent draw, usually having to rely on the NBA Draft to find it's building blocks.

There was the Joe Johnson contract and also Paul Milsap over the last 10-15 years, not much beyond that, but that could be about to change.

After trading for Clint Capela last season, the Hawks added Danllo Gallinari and Bogdan Bogdanvoic in free agency and made a massive jump into the playoffs.

Atlanta Hawks GM Travis Schlenk spoke with John and Hugh about the increased expectations after the successful season this year and how he plans to draw even more studs in free agency.

"The two things that really stand out to free agents are 'do I have a chance to win' and once you get to that point you'll get those kind of free agents," says Schlenk. "The second thing is money. Those two things really stand out."

As Schlenk was wrapping up his thoughts on the type of draw Atlanta is becoming fro free agents, he realizes there's actually another factor that plays into the Hawks favor, Trae Young.

"The other thing that we're seeing over the past few years is 'I wanna play with this guy'," remembers Schlenk who without naming is clearly referring to Trae.
