Hawks 'still hopeful' for De'Andre Hunter's return for playoff run

Atlanta Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk joined The Morning Show with John Fricke & Hugh Douglas on Tuesday and spoke about injured forward De'Andre Hunter and his timeline for a return to action.

Hunter underwent a non-surgical procedure on his right knee in April after dealing with lingering soreness. Schlenk was asked if the team thought Hunter would be back for the playoffs.

"We're still hopeful," Schlenk said on whether Hunter can be a factor for the Hawks in the playoffs.

The Hawks are still working on getting him enough time on the court to gain confidence in his knee. "The last thing that we're going to do is put somebody out there when they're not confident," the Hawks' GM said. "If you're worried about something and don't have confidence in your knee, that's when you're going to go out there and get hurt."

It's been tough over the last few weeks for the Hawks to get Hunter into 5-on-5 or 4-on-4 situations because of the lack of practice time, Schlenk told the guys.
