The Atlanta Hawks (12-19) will finish out the 2023 portion of the NBA regular season with a New Year’s Eve Sunday afternoon matchup against Southeast Division rival Washington Wizards (6-25).
The Hawks have not been playing great basketball over the last several weeks and are currently in the midst of a four game losing streak.
To make matters worse, the Hawks have had several games during the losing streak in which they have blown big leads including what was once a 23-point lead over the Kings Friday night at State Farm Arena.
When Terrell Thomas from These Urban Times joined Sam & Greg on Sunday morning, he addressed the Hawks inability to close out games.
“It’s almost like they took their foot off the gas, and get slightly comfortable when they have a 10 to 12-point lead”, explained Terrell to Sam & Greg when analyzing the Hawks tendencies.
Terrell went on to also say, “I do think teams do realize that when it gets down to the nitty gritty in the fourth quarter, the Hawks are a different team.”
The frustrations have been a little too consistent for Hawks fans and coaches alike.
We will wait and see if the Hawks will end the 2023 part of the calendar on a winning note.
