The Atlanta Hawks added a pair of pieces in the 2020 NBA Draft Wednesday night selecting USC's Onyeka Okongwu at No. 6 overall and later taking Skyler Mays from LSU in the second Round.
Even after adding those two players, the Hawks still have a variety of needs and some of that is positional and some of that is experience and leadership.
Hawks GM Travis Schlenk joined John and Hugh on Thursday morning after the draft and addressed what he views as the team needs and what he's looking to add either though trade or free agency.
“We could use some depth in the backcourt and on the perimeter wing spot,” says Schlenk. “More of a traditional 4 to give Collins some depth. So those are the areas we’re going to look at going into free agency and we hope to be able to plug those holes the best we can.
"The hope is that we’ll be able to add some veterans that can help speed up that learning curve and translate to wins."
"The easiest way to learn how to win in this league is to actually do it and have guys that can help you do that," continues Schlenk. "We feel really good about our young guys and we hope that we’re going to be able to add two or three guys to our roster this weekend that are really going to translate to wins for us."
