he Whitefield Academy Wolfpack boys soccer team have continually found themselves taking the next step over the past three seasons. In the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 campaigns, the Wolfpack reached the semifinals of the Georgia High School Association state championship tournament and in the 2024-2025 season, the Wolfpack broke through, reaching that state title game however fell short 1-0 to Atlanta International School.

Fast forward to this season, and the Wolfpack sit at 10-1 overall and 4-0 in the region standings after picking up an 8-1 win over region rival, the Mount Paran Eagles, on Tuesday night. "These guys have been playing together the last four years and they have just meshed together as a team. They have great chemistry, they're great soccer players, Whitefield Academy head coach, Steve Hellier said following the Wolfpack's "Senior Night" victory, honoring the 12 Wolfpack seniors looking to make another run at a state championship.

"You could say we have somewhat of an unfinished mission but it's just a beautiful thing to have these guys working together and loving each other and playing for each other and their chemistry is unbeleivable," Hellier said of his players after Tuesday's victory. "The mission at a large level, it is completed because they love playing, they play for something greater than themselves and it's just a lot of fun," Hellier continued, noting that while he and his players feel good about where the team is currently, "we'd love to get a little bit further than we did last year,".

And seeing his players "taking the game to a different level," has given Hellier good reason to believe his team is on track to ,make a return appearance in the state title game, to complete the tsk at hand, they will need to "take care of all the things that you need for a great soccer team. We've been trying to move from good to great for a while and that's our mission this year in all areas, in all aspects of what it means to be a team," Hellier said.
