Diamondbacks vs Braves
Two of the expected contenders in the National League will square off on Saturday night with the Arizona Diamondbacks visiting the Atlanta Braves. The D’Backs haven’t quite hit the ground running after getting to the World Series last year. However, they have one of the best run differentials in baseball early on. They’ll send young righty Brandon Pfaadt to the mound on Saturday. He was a revelation during the postseason last year and looked good in his first start of 2024 against the Rockies. But facing Atlanta’s dynamic will be a new challenge for him.
The Braves will counter Pfaadt with lefty Max Fried. Fried didn’t make it out of the first inning of his first start, allowing three runs on two hits and three walks against the Phillies. Obviously, his track record since one bad start is no big deal, but that certainly wasn’t how Fried wanted to begin his 2024 campaign. Nevertheless, look for Fried to bounce back and give the Braves some quality innings, allowing the Atlanta lineup to do some damage against Pfaadt and lead the Braves to a win.
