Carson Beck announced on Monday he will be returning to Georgia next season. Beck will forego the NFL Draft in order to play his senior season in Athens. UGA is projected to have the No. 1 recruiting class so he will have plenty of reinforcements incoming after several Bulldogs will head to the draft in April.
Beck dazzled in his first season starting for UGA. He threw for 3,738 yards with 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also was effective on the ground when he needed to be, tallying four more rushing scores. There was some pause with him entering the season as the starter without having a big sample size but he was able to silence the critics with several standout performances.
He will now be tasked with getting UGA back to the playoffs, something the 2023 squad failed to do after a tough loss to Alabama in the SEC Title game. The new 12-team playoff will present a unique test and set of circumstances for the Bulldogs and the rest of the country. UGA, however, at least has the security of knowing they will have QB 1 back in the fold. Beck will also have the chance to put himself at the top of next year’s NFL Draft conversation.
