SEC Network analyst and former Florida Gator Chris Doering joined Dukes & Bell to help preview the Florida- Georgia game in Jacksonville on Saturday and talked about what the 2022 version of the Georgia Bulldogs missing?
When asked about this UGA team compared to last years.
“I think it’s unfair to compare this year’s Georgia team to what was one of the great generational teams of all-time,” Doering said. “I think that Georgia defense last year was in the same category of generational units like 2019 LSU offense, like the 2020 Alabama offense, this is a ridiculousy talented group of players from that side that lost a lot. I think they maybe gave us the idea that they were not gonna miss a beat with the way they played against Oregon and shutting Bo Nix and that offense pretty much down completely from the get go, they also teased us with some of the down field capability throwing the football.”
Doering told the guys the biggest thing missing on the 2022 Dawgs.
“But I think the biggest thing right now they’re missing is AD Mitchell, AD Mitchell is a difference maker in stretching the field and you’re seeing his presence or lack thereof affect even what Brock Bowers production has been. His production has gone down lately because you see so much focus on him defensively, so they gotta find a way to get him back, to get Mitchell back to stretch the field more and create some opportunities. Not only for big plays but some room for those guys to catch some of the short and intermediate balls the way that they were when he was back in the lineup earlier in the season.”
